I tried to ignore this but am afraid that I cannot hold myself back. That version of Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood that purports to be by The Animals was just about the worst thing that I have heard this month (and I have just returned from Corfu - not known to be the land of great music unless you are into Greek stuff). I don't know who this actually was (it definitely was not Eric singing), but it does not even sound like the version of "The Animals" that has been going around (Animals & Friends etc).If the playing of this track was not an error, then it seems that the album it came from (Forever Gold) must have been made by one of those rip off pirates. It was absolutely awful.

Hi Graham. You have a more finely-tuned ear than me to the works (or otherwise) of Eric Burdon and the Animals. I had my suspicions based on the arrangement of the song - as I believe I mentioned in the introduction or immediately after the track was played. The CD from which I played was a pucker, properly packaged item which is copyrighted to Forever Gold 'under licence from Charly Licensing Aps.' I will say that there is a small note within the album cover which states 'Some of the tracks on this album are re-recordings made by the original artist or any or more members of the original group...' Surprisingly, perhaps, I played this version twice when producing and co-hosting the GTFM Blues Show - August 17 2009 and again on October 14 2013 - without any negative comment. The Daipod was still operating and not above offering criticism on the first occasion and I don't recall any negative comment from any members of the Eric Burdon fan-club either time. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts. Bob
